Uterine Fibroid Embolization
Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is a minimally invasive treatment for uterine fibroids. Uterine fibroids are benign masses that grow in and on the uterine walls. They do not present a problem in themselves, but if they become large enough, they can cause pressure on various surrounding organs. They can also cause very heavy menstrual bleeding.
The traditional treatment for uterine fibroids has been hysterectomy, but our doctors can treat uterine fibroids by reducing their blood supply, shrinking them so that they no longer cause pain or other difficulties.
UFE is our doctors’ specialty. Please visit the uterine fibroids section of this site for more information about how UFE can help you.
